At least you could start from battle academy, and get some touch for the game. I started playing this game when it entered to open beta, and it was quite hard to blend in. And I agree, proper matchmaking would do miracles for the game.

At the end of the match you can see how much bonus SP is remaining. That is your weekly SP cap (if I have understood correctly).

I would try to save SP for complex damage mods and more powerful sniper rifle. STD nanohive will be good enough for a long time. These are all my opinions, so I would suggest that you check those guides that Royce linked. And what I am using when...
